"Job Action" project

In February, the number of participants remained constant at 12, with one more participant joining at the end of February. Currently, 13 young people are participating in the project and two places are still vacant.

With the newly added participant, the first thing was to teach the basics, while the other participants worked diligently in the project. For example, window mobiles were made from natural materials and sewing work was done (to bridge the bad weather conditions), maintenance work and gardening and landscaping activities were carried out at the Park of the Senses. In addition, at the adventure playground in Dannenfels, trees were cut and lopped to make room for the actual playground equipment. The next steps were the dismantling of the boards on the slide in the forest and the complete dismantling of the slide. In a further step, the slide is to be rebuilt in a new place specially prepared for this purpose.

In the context of socio-educational support, many individual case discussions took place. Goal formulations in the help plan processes were addressed. The participants were accompanied to appointments and joint discussions took place at the job centre. The new case manager of the Job Centre also introduced himself at the premises of the employment agency. This appointment was used for a detailed exchange and handover discussion.

The participants were supported in the application process. Job research was carried out and applications were jointly prepared and sent.

Three project participants completed internships in February. One participant worked at the Kirchheimbolanden senior citizens' residence in the field of geriatric care. One participant worked as a seamstress at the Donnersberger Industriepolster Kamy and one participant worked as a carpenter at the Holzwerk in Rockenhausen.

Training sessions on the rights and duties of trainees were held with all participants of the project. On 03.02.2023, a joint trip to the Chamber of Crafts in Kaiserslautern took place for the "Training Day". In the context of this, the young people were able to inform themselves about various apprenticeship occupations.

Newsletter January `23
"Job Action" project

The project started successfully on 02.01.2023 with initially 10 participants. In the course of the month, two more were added, so that there are currently 12 participants working in the project.

The project started with a first meeting to get to know each other. The first joint support processes were discussed and already underway. We have already been able to find a traineeship for one participant.

In the workshops, the first thing was to teach the basics of handling tools, machines and various materials. Safety instructions were also given as well as training units on the major topic of "forests". The programme included a visit to the future workshop in Dannenfels (adventure playground and park of the senses). We also started on site with initial work in the Park of the Senses and work with natural materials. The participants designed the first patterns for window mobiles.

The two major sub-projects "Repair, renaturation and family-friendly upgrading of the forest adventure trail" and "Repair, renovation, restructuring and upgrading of the adventure playground" will initially be tackled in small steps.

"Job Action": New project of the Gemeinnützige Beschäftigungs- und Qualifizierungsgesellschaft (non-profit employment and qualification society)

At the beginning of the new year, the non-profit employment and qualification company of the Donnersberg district starts the project "Job Action" again. The aim of this measure is to qualify young people under the age of 25, who are not in school, training or work, in personal and manual areas and to make them fit for the labour market. It is possible to join the project at any time.

Since January 2005, the Gemeinnützige Beschäftigungs- und Qualifizierungsgesellschaft (GBQ) has been working closely with the Donnersbergkreis Job Centre. There are also cooperations with other social services and institutions in the Donnersberg district. The employment and qualification company has two locations in Alsenz and Marnheim. Due to many years of activities in qualification and employment of long-term unemployed in different occupational fields, it has a broad spectrum of experience and "knowhow".

"With the non-profit employment and qualification company, we want to help these people in particular, we want to support them in the transition to work and training," says Judith Schappert, the office manager of the Donnersberg district administration and managing director of the employment and qualification company. This group of people often has a great distance to the labour and training market. Due to the personal requirements and the large number of placement obstacles that the young people bring with them, it is often not possible to reach them.

In order to change this, the non-profit employment and qualification company of the Donnersberg district is starting the "Job Action" project again in the new year. Here, young people are to be offered support that fits their individual needs. The target group of the project are young people under 25 who are neither in school nor in training or work. Through the work in the project, the young people's self-esteem is to be strengthened.

Joint projects with the Donnersberg Forestry Office are planned for this year. Nature is to be experienced and made accessible to other people - for example at the adventure playground and Park of the Senses in Dannenfels. But "Job Action" also includes experiential team-building events, training on "How do I manage my money" or "How do I run a household", the promotion of individual career planning, career orientation and job application training, participation in language courses and PC training, the training of so-called "soft skills" such as punctuality and reliability, individual socio-pedagogical support and company internships.

The project, which is scheduled to run until 31 December 2023, is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Transformation and Digitalisation of Rhineland-Palatinate from the European Social Fund Plus and co-financed by the European Union. In addition, the project is supported by the Jobcenter Donnersbergkreis and the district of Donnersberg. The "Job Action 2022" project was concluded with the installation of relaxation loungers in the schoolyard of the Georg von Neumayer School in Kirchheimbolanden.
